Just Take the Miracle!

2 min read

When the blind man in John chapter 9 is healed by Jesus, he is asked TWICE about the details surrounding the miracle. But the blind man tells them famously, “…One thing I know, that, whereas I wad blind, now I see.” (v. 25). When the religious leaders and the Jews continue to pester him, the blind man tells them that maybe they should follow Jesus to get their answer!

This miracle story is a great example of how we can get so caught up in the details, that we miss the miracle! And even when we get the miracle (prayer answered, income, restoration, etc.) we’re still questioning God and how he made everything work. But sometimes, friend, you have to just be quiet and TAKE THE MIRACLE!

Think about it. You made a prayer for a desire on your heart. You fasted, prayed, sought counsel, sought the Lord. You stressed and doubted sometimes. But then the miracle came, and you got exactly what you asked for. So why worry about it now? You’ve put so much energy into hoping for the miracle, and waiting in faith. Now your miracle is here and you can rest.  Don’t overthink every little detail!

The miracle in and of itself is that God heard your prayer and acted on it (like He promises to do all the time-Psalm 34:4). It’s okay to be in awe and to wonder about how your miracle happened. But when you start to question it over and over, as if it is some impossible thing that God can’t handle, then your doubt creeps in again!

So don’t be like the religious leaders and jews, questioning how something came to be and who did it and the logistics of it. Be like the blind man who knows only ONE thing: God answered my prayer! I was in this place, and now I’m not. I was blind, and now I see.

Because the greatest miracle we’ll ever receive is God’s grace and salvation through His Son Jesus Christ.

Don’t worry about the miracle after you’ve gotten the miracle!
