No Lies Told
Hebrews 6:18
James 1:17
Numbers 23:19
Titus 1:2
I had recently sinned and felt distant from God. I repented, and reminded myself of God’s forgiveness, but it always felt as if something was not the same. I decided to believe that if God had brought me this far, He wouldn’t leave me in my sins. Because then He would go against everything He said in His Word. And if there’s one thing I know about God– He doesn’t lie. He is unable to lie, because He is only Truth (John 14:6). If I felt that I had lost my salvation, or that there was no hope for me after I sinned, then that would make God contradictory to Himself, which is literally impossible.
Hebrews 6:18 reminds us that the God who can’t lie is the same God we should put our hope in. And if my hope is in someone that is perfect and without lies, then I think I’m happy hoping in Him! Especially when all the truths He speaks over us are of joy, life, prosperity, strength, and victory (Jeremiah 29:11; Isaiah 55:11; 2 Chronicles 7:14)!
James 1:17 reminds us that God doesn’t change His mind, His views, nor His thoughts. He is the singular constant being in the entire universe (which He also created!). And since He is consistent, His promises and blessings to us will never leave us wanting for more. He promises abundant life, and that is guaranteed for every believer (John 10:10).
Numbers 23:19 reminds us that God should not be viewed as we view other humans on the earth. Where people will let you down, ignore you, hurt you, or discourage you, God is there to uplift you, hear you, heal you, and encourage you. He cannot be compared to man because man was created by Him. Whatever He promises, that He will do, and whether we see the promise or not (Hebrews 11:13) we find peace in knowing that the God who made a way for us in our lifetime, will make a way for others in theirs.
Titus 1:2 brings into light the eternity we will spend with God when He finally eradicates all evil in the land. We are to stand firm, and continue in hope, because God’s Word will never fail (Matthew 24:35; Luke 1:37). God has promised us eternity since the beginning (Genesis 3:15) and has made a way for us to be reunited with Him through Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection (John 19-20). We have hope in an eternity with God because we know what God has done for us before, and that encourages us to look forward to what He will do again (Psalm 77:11-12).
I stumbled in my journey, but I am still here. God woke me up for a new day (Lamentations 3:23) and for a new renewal (Psalm 51:10-11). Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, I am made clean (Isaiah 1:18; Hebrews 7:26-27; 1 John 1:9). And that applies to you too. Keep moving forward in Christ. Turn away from the wrongs you’ve committed and strive to do what’s right. The Lord will see your heart, and the everlasting mercies and grace will be extended to you in an overflow (Exodus 34:6-7). And if you take that as Truth, then you will be free (John 8:32).
Believe in God’s Truth, because His Truth overcomes all lies.
